Tongue maturation deficits in a mouse model of Down syndrome

Glass, Tiffany

Summary

Down syndrome (DS) is associated with atypical tongue movement that contributes to devastating challenges with communication and feeding, but the biological mechanisms underlying these challenges are not known. This research will investigate early postnatal changes in tongue muscles and brainstem in a mouse model of DS at three different timepoints during oromotor development, as well as after two different oromotor activity conditions.
